At this year’s World Cup, two teams were hard to root against. Japan’s team reminded everyone about the importance of courtesy by not only cleaning up their locker room but leaving a thank-you note to their Russian hosts.
The Swedes, however, may have taken the prize as the most likeable team, and not just because they’re great sports. One of their proud national brands decided to mark the defeat with grace while also remaining calm about England supporters having a grand ‘ol time at a store in East London.
In fact, they took a step further with fish and chips for only one pound.
Last week’s responses are pretty much expected from Ikea. From making fun of a $2,000-plus Balenciaga bag to noting that $450 million art isn’t a necessity, they’re well-versed in keeping it light (and delightfully Swedish) when the opportunity presents itself.
Now, let’s just hope that it’s not France versus England in the final. We’d hate to see what would happen at Pret a Manger should the Three Lions bring it home.
