Perhaps a modern tribute to the late stars, designers Nicolas Damiens and Julien Sens decided to convert handwritings of great artists such as David Bowie, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon and Leonard Cohen into digital typefaces.
Damiens and Sens have managed to capture the nuances of these artists’ handwritings from their personal notes, letters, postcards, and in Cobain’s case, from his tragic suicide letter. Cobain’s handwriting is described as thin and scratchy, with lazy “c’s” and small “i’s.”
Lennon’s handwriting, on the other hand, is more structured and coherent, while that of the late Bowie takes on a more graphic approach.
